Those who qualify for the new subscriptions feature have complete control over their monthly cost.
Subscribers who pay the monthly charge get the following benefits:
- Subscriber Lives: Creators may broadcast livestreams that are exclusively available to subscribers.
- Subscriber Tales: Creators may write stories that are only available to their subscribers.
- Subscriber Badges: When subscribers write comments, a badge will show next to their name, letting the author and other users know they’re a dedicated follower.
According to the company’s announcement:
“By offering subscribers access to unique content and advantages on the same platform where they currently interact with them, artists can create deeper ties with their most engaged fans and expand their recurring monthly revenue.”
Who Can Get An Instagram Subscription?
During the test phase, Instagram Subscriptions is only accessible to a small number of US authors.
Over the next several months, Instagram intends to open up access to more producers.

- @alanchikinchow: A content producer who rose to prominence thanks to TikTok.
- @sedona._ is a current basketball player for the Oregon Ducks.
- @alizakelly is a successful author and celebrity astrologer.
- Kelsey Lynn Cook (@kelseylynncook) is an actress, dancer, and model.
- @elliottnorris: Makes films on sustainable cooking, plastic-free living, and other environmental topics.
- @jordanchiles is a gymnastics olympic silver medallist.
- Instagram model and part of the NCAA gymnastics team, @jackjerry.
- @bunnymichael: Host of the spirituality-focused podcast “XO Higher Self.”
- @donalleniii: Creates innovative visual material, such as Snapchat AR lenses.
- @lonnieiiv: A TikTok celebrity recognized for her artistic doodles.
Instagram, like Facebook Subscriptions, will not collect fees from artists until at least 2023.
In addition to extending Instagram Subscriptions to additional artists in the future, the company aims to give companion tools that enable creators to engage with their audience directly outside of Instagram.
